Chapter 16

I am back in Charlotte, bored as Hell! I’ve been living in New York for the past year and child I ain’t fucking with Charlotte now. Malik dragged me down here because he’s worried about RaQuan. I keep telling him there’s nothing he can do but ‘Let go and let God!’ but he won’t listen. He looked right at me and said I sounded stupid for saying that. Then he asked how I would feel if it were me people were trying to kill. I almost laughed because people were trying to kill me once if it had not been for him, but I pulled it together. I told him I understood just to pacify him when really; I could give less than a shit about his brother. Okay, I have to admit the thought of him turning his back on me before this third wish is granted helped me relate to RaQuan’s situation, but he did this to himself; I just happened to be in the wrong place, at the wrong time and with the wrong family. I guess I should empathize.

I had to get away from Malik because when he gets like that, I know that I am truly pushing him too far. So to keep the peace, I shut the hell up and give him room. Don’t think because I get what I want from that I don’t respect boundaries, I do and his brother is one of them. I can get him to let go of anyone, anyone that is but RaQuan. Hell, I’m the reason he barely speaks to his uncle and cut off his coach. I did that, but when it comes to his brother, he is not having it! That means I had to chill out because if I kept saying what I was thinking, my ass could end up out in the cold while RaQuan rides off into the sunset with my money. No Freaking Way!!!!

Right now he’s out riding with his uncle James trying to dig up RaQuan. He has to be out somewhere in the city because last night, a lawyer said that RaQuan busted into his law firm yesterday and robbed him at gunpoint. The next thing we know, the FEDS were also on the hunt for him. The U. S Marshall in the news said that there wasn’t a federal warrant; they just wanted him for questioning.

RaQuan is in deep shit and I don’t want it splattering on my baby! There is no way I can afford to lose Malik before this wish is granted. Right now it’s looking as if I may be in trouble if Malik finds his brother. I know him; he will not let the bastard out of his sight, which translates to Malik placing himself in harm’s way. FUCK!!! If the police don’t get him, I pray a hit man does… Thinking of a hit man, I need to get out of this creepy ass house. Every time I enter a room, I expect to encounter the masked gunman that wore the gold pinkie ring.
